Federica Luna Vincenti directed by Roberto Cavosi presents us with the torment and restlessness of Sissi, a free and nonconformist soul eternally “locked in a cage.” A woman with wounded sensibilities who, disgusted by wars, frustrated by the rigidity of the Viennese Court and mourning the deaths of her children, devotes herself maniacally to caring for her body. Aspects of the Empress’ character and thought will thus emerge, ranging from philosophy to sex, politics to art.
